1. Eat at the same time:
Make a routine and eat minimum of three meals a day and try taking the meals at the same time every day. It is believed that eating every four to five hours helps to maintain sugar levels in the body. Don’t forget to carry a bit of carbohydrate diet in your purse.
2. Include variety in your diet:
Make your diet chart full of different foods. Include less fat, less sugar and less salt and more of fiber, vegetables, fruits, and cereals. Avoid fried and imbibe more of baked food. Avoid taking too much of red meat.
3. Keep a regular check on sugar levels:
Don’t forget to check your sugar levels two to four times every day if you are diabetic. Simple sugar checking devices are available in the market.
4. A1C test on a regular basis:
Don’t forget to get your A1C test done once every three months. This test gives an indication of the capacity of your red blood cells to hold on to glucose molecules. The Red blood cells are replaced every 3 to 4 months. And thus this test gives the indication as to how high the glucose levels were during the life of cells. 6. Check your cholesterol and blood pressure regularly:

Because of high sugar levels in the body, it can result in diabetic neuropathy which damages the nerves in the body. The basic symptoms of diabetic neuropathy are numbness, dizziness, erectile dysfunction and vision changes. In case of these symptoms immediately consult your doctor.
8. Avoid walking barefoot:
Disorders common among diabetes patients are nerve damage and poor circulation of blood. Thus foot problems are very common in such patients. The best way to protect your feet is to keep them warm always.
9. Take care of your eyes:
Get your eyes examined every year. Being diabetic for a longer time can weaken the small blood vessels in retina of the eye. This is referred to as diabetic retinopathy and causes blurred vision.
10. Regular Kidney Checks:
Once a year a diabetic patient should get his kidneys checked as diabetes can cause damage to blood vessels in the kidney. This is diabetic nephropathy. Its first symptom is protein in urine. When the damage to kidneys cross a certain threshold it results in high blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride level rises.
11. Regular teeth and Gums test:
Take an appointment from your dentist twice in a year if you are diabetic. Increases in blood sugar levels result in tooth decay.
